Upstream moved 56 commits ahead of the last merge. Six files conflicted,
all of them files where upstream's French -> English tr() translation wave
touched lines we had also touched with the cable feature. Resolution rule
applied everywhere: take upstream's English source strings, keep our cable
additions.
Resolved:
- sources/ui/xrefpropertieswidget.ui : kept our structure (m_labels_gb
pulled out of the display group, m_slave_row, the m_font_pb "Police..."
button of the cable cross-reference) and mechanically applied upstream's
20 English string replacements on top of it.
- sources/ui/xrefpropertieswidget.cpp : our version plus upstream's 7
translated combo entries; the tr("Cable") item we add for the cable
cross-reference type stays.
- sources/autoNum/ui/numparteditorw.cpp : upstream's English part names
("number format 1", "Sheet no.", "Plant", "Location", ...) for the
number-format list, with our comment explaining why type 3 (cable) takes
the conductor kinds of variable.
- sources/ui/configpage/configpages.cpp : upstream's English tab titles
(Conductors / Elements / Sheets) plus our Cables tab.
- sources/ui/configpage/projectconfigpages.cpp : upstream's "Sheets" tab
title plus our Cables tab block (single-rule SelectAutonumW(3)).
- sources/qetdiagrameditor.cpp : union of both sides - upstream's new
"Add a generic device" action (icon, status tip, data id) and its
English menu names ("File"/"Edit"/"Project"/"Display"), together with our
cable action, the Numbering and Lists menus, the cable list actions and
the CSV export in the Project menu.
Kept French: our own cable tr() source strings stay French for now. That
is the smaller change and the translation pass can follow separately.
Verified: full build 1065/1065, ctest 91/92 (only the pre-existing
headless tst_menubarkeyboard fails: no window manager, so Alt+F and F10
cannot open a menu bar), smoke start exit 124, no conflict marker left in
the tree.
Conflicts resolved in 24 files. Notable decisions:
- ico/icon-themes.qrc: upstream's icon folder restructure kept; the 36
cable icon entries re-added under the new qet/qet-dark path scheme
(XML valid, every referenced file exists).
- Toolbar system: upstream's DiagramToolbarSettings now owns the
toolbar filling. The cable tool is registered as
diagrameditor.add_cable (generic group loop) and listed on the
"diagram" toolbar right after the auto-break conductor action,
separated by a divider, exactly like before the merge.
- Paste: the cable lines of a copy are handed to
PasteNumberingImport::push() as extra commands, so paste + cable
lines + the numbering question stay ONE undo step on both paste
paths (DiagramView::paste and DiagramEventAddPaste::commit).
- PDF links: upstream's deterministic link sorting kept together with
the cable cross-reference injector (injectLinkTo -> links list).
- Element renumbering: upstream's ElementAutoNumSchemeCommand::renumber
replaces the old formula-based body of
QETProject::renumberElementsBySchemeTitle; the cable numbering rule
API (cableAutoNum, axis priority, rule name) is kept in full.
- Auto-numbering pages: upstream's scheme management kept, the Câbles
tab added as index 4 (changeToCableTab), both entry points
changeToCable() and changeToElement() kept side by side.
- SelectAutonumW: dirty tracking and the contextEdited signal moved
into upstream's insertPartRow() row API, so single-rule mode, the
rule-removable button and "confirm without change leaves the project
alone" keep working.
- xrefpropertieswidget: upstream's offset clamping kept; the cable
branch (Texte field, Police button, hidden display options) kept;
the stack-overlapping checkbox is hidden for cables.
Verified after the merge: build green (515/515, no errors), ctest
85/86 (only the pre-existing headless tst_menubarkeyboard failure),
offscreen smoke exit 124.
Edit > Add > Generic device (also on the Add toolbar, and found by the
command search as diagrameditor.add_generic_device) opens a three-page
wizard for devices used too rarely to draw a symbol for, such as a VSD
or a power supply:
1. Layout: terminals per side (0 for none), a gap every N terminals,
divider marks on gaps, groups lined up across opposite sides, pitch
and extra size.
2. Terminals: a table per side and the same list as one line, where
In{4} is In1..In4, Q{z4} is Q0..Q3, X{3-6} is X3..X6 and an empty
entry is a gap; number pins 1..n counter-clockwise; paste rows of
side, name, function from a spreadsheet or a CSV file.
3. Information: name, label, manufacturer, reference, description.
A preview beside every page shows the box as it will be placed. Finish,
available from the first page, writes an ordinary symbol to the folder
"Generic devices" of the project's collection and puts it on the cursor.
The box sizes itself to its terminals and their names; every terminal
lands on the grid and gets a uuid. No new XML: any QElectroTech reads it.
The layout is pure (sources/genericdevice/genericdevice.cpp) and tested
by tst_genericdevice. ElementPictureFactory gains pictureFromDefinition()
to draw the preview with the same code as a placed element.

Cables are drawn line objects (toolbar button next to the auto
break/reconnect button, click-move-click, right click cancels), not
components. The type comes from a CSV catalog following the material
list pattern (designation, cores, core colours, editable through the
entry dialog with "Nouvelle entrée" / "Modifier l'entrée").
Each core is bound to the wire its colour label stands on, and the
cable reference is generated per core and written into the Conductor
entry via Conductor::setCableReference(label, cable uuid, slot). The
conductor entry is where it has to live because the terminal strip
plan (Klemmenplan) consumes it in the next step.
Numbering: "Cables" rule under Programmeinstellungen/Neues
Projekt/Nummerierung auto (mirrored in project properties), literal
"W" fallback without a rule, French gate dialog when no rule exists,
Nummerierung menu with the renumber dialog (preferred axis, per-folio
counter, rule and counter state written back, hand-typed names ask,
whole-project scope).
Also included: label block and under-line texts with per-text font and
alignment plus the material-list cell margins, free-core placement and
right-click removal, claim questions for wires of other cables,
multi-selection drag as one undo step, type change with confirmation,
cross-references for type "Cable" (%f-%l%c, own font, clickable links
in exported PDFs), report propagation of the cable definition,
Listes menu (table of contents, material list, terminal strip manager,
terminal generator plugin, cable list), cable list with freely
selectable columns (installation/localisation of cable, start and end,
Blatt start/end, length, used cores...), CSV export dialog with column
pick and preview in the Projekt menu, script API (addTable kind
"cable_list", exportCableList) and a unit test for the type catalog.
Each folder now holds icons from one source: qet/ for QET's own SVGs,
breeze/ for KDE Breeze (with breeze/added/), flags/, colors/, and
themes/ for script output (with themes/generated/). The unused
128x128/terminalstrip.svg is removed. The generator, qrc files,
qeticons.cpp and ico/copyright follow the new paths. ico/README.md
lists each folder's source, script and license.
Part of #1269.
The search panel's close button and the five KDE Breeze icons that sat in
ico/breeze-icons/ now come from ico/breeze/, with 16, 22 and 32 px art.
André's three SVGs moved from ico/generated/ to ico/scalable/. Removed the
18 .svgz files and the QETIcon and QETOxygenLogo icons nothing used.
"Ajouter un congé" on the drawing toolbar, in Édition > Ajouter and in
the command search. Click two lines one after the other, or once where
they meet, and a small dialog asks for the radius (remembered for the
next one); Enter makes the fillet. The tool stays on for the next
corner; Escape or a right-click ends it.
The two lines are trimmed -- or extended, when they did not reach each
other -- to the points where the arc touches them, and an arc is added
between them. For each line the part kept is the one on the side of
the corner where it was clicked; a click on the corner keeps the
longer part of each. Parallel or nearly aligned lines, and a radius
too big for the lines, are refused with a status-bar message.
The arc is an ordinary Ellipse shape with a start and end angle, as
the Arc tool and the ellipse's arc handles save it, so nothing new is
written to the file. It is added by its own small undo command rather
than AddGraphicsObjectCommand, whose redo() calls setPos(), and
QetShapeItem::setPos() snaps the outline's corner to the grid, which
would pull the arc off the lines. One undo step undoes the fillet.
New icon draw-fillet, light and dark, registered like the Align icons.

The seven Edit > Align commands (Snap to grid and the six align
commands, discussion #1069) had no icons: the menu, the context menu,
command search and the shortcut bar showed them as bare text.
They are pixel-grid SVGs in ico/scalable/ drawn like the folio and
Add PDF icons: 24 pixel canvas, art on the inner 22 pixel grid, one
currentColor ink so misc/make_icon_themes.py writes the dark copies.
Each align icon is a guide line with two boxes of different lengths
against it; the centre ones show the guide only between the boxes.
Snap to grid is a faint grid with one box sitting exactly on a cell.
The boxes have a solid outline and a 35 % tinted inside, which keeps
the guide the strongest mark at 16 pixels.
Names follow the freedesktop icon names (align-horizontal-left, ...).

The settings and project dialogs list their pages with 64 or 128 pixel
icons, and two pages had theirs at 22 pixels only: the terminal-strip
page and the shortcuts page, which borrowed configure-toolbars. Both get
a 128 pixel icon drawn in the style of the other page icons, the
shortcuts page under its own name, configure-shortcuts. The SVG sources
sit beside the PNGs.
On a dark palette the Printing and Export pages were small too: their
128 pixel icons exist in the light theme only, and Qt inherits by name,
not by size, so the dark theme's small copies were scaled up instead.
make_icon_themes.py now aliases the light files of the sizes a dark name
lacks, when they read on the dark window at 3:1.
A test asks the theme for every page icon at 128 pixels, on both
palettes.
Fixes#960
QET had no icon theme: the 446 entries of the icon table and the 116
iconsets in .ui files each named a resource path, so an icon could only
ever be one file, and a variant for another palette or a vector source
had nowhere to go (GitHub #466, #690, #870). This adds the theme layout
without changing a single pixel; a dark variant comes in a follow-up.
The theme "qet" follows the freedesktop layout Qt's icon loader
understands. misc/make_icon_themes.py generates ico/icon-themes.qrc,
which aliases the existing ico/<size>/<name>.png files into
themes/qet/<size>/<name>.png, and ico/themes/qet/index.theme. No file
moves. The four table entries that paired a 16 pixel file with a 22
pixel file of another name (ConductorSettings, DiagramAdd,
DiagramDelete, DialogInformation) get the 22 pixel file aliased under
the 16 pixel name.
QETApp::initIconTheme() registers the theme before initIcons() and makes
it current on every platform, so a desktop icon theme cannot replace
QET's icons. Icons are then looked up by name: QIcon::fromTheme() in
qeticons.cpp and in the few places that built a QIcon from a resource
path directly, and theme="..." on the iconsets in .ui files, with the
resource path kept as fallback. Flags, color swatches, application and
MIME icons stay on their paths.
One entry does not go through the theme. The elements panel draws the
project root with ProjectFileGP in the 50 pixel slot it reserves for
element previews, and the name "project" also carries the 128 pixel
file the configuration dialog uses. On a 2x display Qt's loader picks
that file for a 50 pixel request and fills the slot. ProjectFileGP
loads the 16 and 22 pixel files directly, as before.
tests/qttest/tst_qeticons: every name in the theme resolves, the four
aliases resolve at 22 pixels, a Fusion tool button shows its icon at
3:1 with disabled weaker than enabled, and the project root icon stays
at 22 pixels or less when asked for 50 at 2x while the configuration
dialog still gets its 128 pixel file. The rendering helpers shared
with tst_qetpalette moved to tests/qttest/inkcontrast.h.
Shapes and images can now be resized, rotated, and skewed directly
on the canvas, not just moved. Both share one small transform
struct (rotation, then skew, then scale, anchored on a movable
pivot) and one handle widget, so a corner drag, an edge skew, or
grabbing the rotate handle behaves the same way and runs through
the same matrix math everywhere, instead of every item type
reinventing its own.
Shapes also gained a proper pen tool (bezier paths, corner/smooth/
symmetric nodes), arc support, and mirroring. Images gained
non-destructive cropping and colour-keyed transparency, both
remember their own settings, so reopening the dialog picks up
where you left off instead of starting over.
Properties dialogs for both were extended to match (position,
size, angle, skew), with undo/redo wired through for every handle
drag.
Old XML files can read easily as the transformation is only added
if needed and the old syntax is still used and understood if it is
not needed.
- Add DPI selection (150/300/600) to the page selection dialog
- Add live page preview in the selection dialog
- Conditionally compile PDF import only for Qt6 (#if QT_VERSION)
- Add custom pdf-import icon (PDF document with + symbol)
- Register new icon in qelectrotech.qrc
- Qt5 builds: PDF import action is hidden, everything else works as before
Now that the problem with the translations of keyboard shortcuts has been resolved and rotation using the space bar works reliably in principle, I took a closer look at the rotation function itself in the element editor.
I noticed, for example, that arcs can be rotated at an angle of 15°. This doesn't really make sense, as the “arc” part doesn't have the “rotation” property. There is only width and height.
And somehow rotating arcs didn't work well: start- and span-angles weren't adjusted.
Lines and polygons can be rotated in 15° increments, which doesn't make much sense, if other parts that can only be rotated in 90° increments are selected at the same time.
To make a long story short:
I reworked the rotation functions of the graphical parts so that now all parts are rotated in 90° steps around the origin! This means that it is now possible to mark several parts and rotate them around the same point at the same time!
In addition, the functions for mirroring graphic parts at y-axis (shortcut "M") and flipping at x-axis (shortcut "F") have been implemented.
I have saved the text elements for later!
