A terminal's label is written as it is read off the plan, "X1:1", and
the symbol draws it as one field. On a long strip that field is long
enough to reach into the next terminal, and a user who wants the number
next to the screw and the label out of the way has no way to say so.
Settings > General > Appearance now has a "Display of the terminal
labelling" group with two choices: the label and its terminal number in
one field, the way it has always been drawn, or the two split. The
first is what every drawing gets, so nothing moves until the user asks
for it, and choosing the other one redraws the drawings already open --
nothing needs to be closed and opened again.
A symbol made for the split carries a text field bound to the new
"Terminal number" information (in the element editor's list, next to
the label, and as the %{terminal_number} variable of a composite text):
the label field then shows "X1" and the number field "1", each placed
where the symbol wants it, and hideable when it must be. A symbol which
has no such field -- every symbol drawn until now -- gets the number on
its own line inside the label field, so switching the setting on can
never make a number vanish, and never needs a symbol to be touched
first. A field which becomes, or stops being, the number field tells
the label fields of its symbol to draw themselves again.
Only the drawing reacts. What the element stores, the numbering, the
sorting in the terminal strip editor, the automatic strip import and
every export keep the whole label: the split is read where the text is
drawn (Element::labelForDisplay() and friends), not where the label is
made.
The new test covers both choices, with and without the number field, a
label with no colon at all, and the way back to the whole label. The
full test suite passes (124/124).

tree is the fresh conversion; this commit only joins it to the PR's
history so the branch is never force-pushed.
Terminal elements only offered eight information fields in the
diagram editor (formula, label, comment, designation, manufacturer,
manufacturer reference, machine manufacturer reference, supplier).
That subset was chosen in faf4235be, before the size, quantity and
auxiliary fields existed, so a terminal could not be given a width,
height, depth or type.
Every tr() source string in the code and the forms is now the English
text, and French is a translation (qet_fr.ts) like the other languages.
Generated, not hand-edited: master ef795a21e5 converted by
qet-en-source (harness 4c4ddc9).
3144 messages get an English source, 665 already had one, 0 left French; 8 shared-wording pairs disambiguated.
C++: 2904 literals in 233 files. Forms: 809 strings in 65 files. All 34 .ts files re-keyed; qet_fr.ts filled.
lupdate check: PASS. What each of 38 languages shows, old vs new: same 118266, English instead of French 38433, comment fallback 51, differences 0.
numericInfoPattern()'s integer branch no longer allows an optional
trailing ".", so "12." is now Intermediate rather than Acceptable --
already-built hasAcceptableInput() guard then keeps it from being
stored, same as a lone ".". Previously it validated fine and got
saved verbatim, silently freezing in that form since nothing ever
normalized it afterward.
- ElementInfoWidget::currentInfo() now skips a field whose validator
hasn't accepted its text (e.g. a lone "." mid-typing), which
previously stored and later parsed to 0.
- New QETInformation::NumericInfoValidator rewrites "," to "." before
validating, so 80,5 on a German/French keyboard no longer silently
becomes 805. Used at both existing call sites.
- Restored the header's #1/#2/#3 doc comment (was reflowed into a
run-on paragraph by a previous edit).
Address feedback on the width/height/depth elementInformation fields:
- The regex accepted "." alone as a complete value ([0-9]* permits
zero digits on both sides), meaning a field could be committed with
a literal "." saved to the XML. Require at least one digit either
before or after the separator.
- The same pattern was duplicated verbatim in elementinfopartwidget.cpp
and elementpropertieseditorwidget.cpp's EditorDelegate. Factored into
QETInformation::numericInfoPattern(), a single shared definition both
call sites now use.
- Tightened the pattern to at most 2 decimal places (down from 4) to
match the precision actually meaningful for these fields.
Not changed, by design:
- Storage stays a plain string, consistent with every other numeric
elementInformation field (quantity etc.) in this codebase -- values
round-trip through XML text regardless, so a long/micron
representation wouldn't avoid the string<->number conversion, only
relocate it.
- No decimal-comma normalization needed: with the fixed pattern, only
digits and "." are ever accepted at the keystroke level, so an
alternate separator can't enter the field in the first place.
Adds three new elementInformation keys — width, height, depth (in mm)
— alongside the existing manufacturer/manufacturer_reference fields.
These describe the physical dimensions of the device a symbol
represents, set once per element definition.
Values are restricted to plain decimal numbers via a QDoubleValidator
on the information tree's item delegate (fixed-point, "." as decimal
separator via QLocale::c(), independent of the UI language), so a
later consumer can always parse them with toDouble() without
additional sanitization.
