Correct user_manual and add a preferences reference

user_manual.md read as confident-sounding but unverified filler, the same
failure mode already found and fixed in api_reference this session. Checked
every concrete claim in Projects & Folios, Working with Elements, Drawing
Wires, Reports, Preferences and the shortcuts table against the actual
source, and found roughly a dozen fabrications, not one or two:

- File -> New Project has no dialog at all (QETDiagramEditor::newProject()
creates the project and calls addNewDiagram() immediately) -- not a
  three-step page-size/orientation/margin wizard.
- There is no "folio type" concept anywhere in the source -- no
  single-line/multiline/control-diagram selector. Adding a folio
(addNewDiagram()) is likewise instant, no dialog.
- No per-folio "scale" property exists.
- "Auto-save, configure in Preferences" doesn't exist; there is a
20-minute crash-recovery backup timer with no exposed interval setting.
- The claimed element categories (01_Misc/03_Control/04_Energy/
10_Electrical) don't match anything in the collection -- real top-level
  trees are 10_allpole/20_logic/30_hydraulic/50_pneumatic/60_energy.
- Every one of Rotate=R, Flip=H/V and Fit-to-page=Ctrl+0 in the shortcuts
table is wrong against ShortcutManager's actual registrations: rotate is
Space, fit-to-page is Ctrl+9, and flip doesn't exist at all for an
element placed on a folio -- flip (F) is element-editor-only, for
  redrawing the symbol itself.
- No element-locking or persistent-grouping feature exists on current
  master; removed rather than described.
- No wire-splitting mechanism exists (grep for split/conductor turns up
nothing); "wires only connect at terminals" already said correctly
  elsewhere in the same file.
- No "Project -> Reports" menu or "I/O Documentation" report type exists;
nomenclature/wiring-list generation is File -> Export or the CLI
(--export-bom etc.), already documented in api_reference.
- The dynamic-text variable list (%id = "element ID", %label, %comment...)
  contradicts this session's own verified variables.md -- %id is a folio
index, not an element reference number.
- No in-app "community element repository" browser exists.
- The claimed Preferences categories (Display/Projects/Grid) don't match
the five real pages (General, New project, Export, Print, Shortcuts).

Corrected or removed each, linking to the real mechanism where one of this
session's other pages already covers it (variables, api_reference,
project_database, element_editor, title_blocks, folio_links) rather than
re-describing it. Softened Multi-User Workflows with an actual caveat --
project_database.md already established there's no shared-state
mechanism, so "merge changes when working in parallel" needed the warning
that a merge conflict there is a raw XML conflict, not a structured one.
Applied identically across EN/FR/DE, not just the English source.

Adds a new preferences reference page (EN/FR/DE) covering what the real
five pages actually control, built from configdialog.cpp and
sources/ui/configpage/ directly: the six collection/title-block path
pickers on General (and why relocating one without a trailing slash used
to silently break IEC 81346 prefixes -- bugtracker #671), the New
project/New folio page's dual identity (same class, title and target
change depending on whether a project is open), and that Export and Print
share one underlying widget rather than being separate implementations.

# Einstellungsreferenz
`QETApp::configureQET()` (wo sie zusammengesetzt werden).
---
## 1. Allgemein
Sammlung verlagern lässt: gemeinsame Elemente, Firmenelemente, eigene
Elemente, Firmen-Schriftfeldvorlagen, eigene Schriftfeldvorlagen und eigene
Makros.
> jedes Element (Bugtracker #671) — inzwischen behoben. Funktionieren

in **[Project XML](project_XML)** dokumentiert:
| Reiter | Legt fest |
|---|---|
| **Querverweise** | Master-/Slave-Beschriftungsformeln — siehe **[Elemente verknüpfen](element_linking-DE)** |
Elemente
- Raster zeichnen / Rahmen zeichnen / Schriftfeld zeichnen
---
zuweisen wollen.
---

Voir §2.
Source : `sources/configdialog.cpp` (l'enveloppe du dialogue),
`sources/ui/configpage/` (les cinq pages),
`QETApp::configureQET()` (où elles sont assemblées).
---

| Ouverte depuis | Titre | Modifie |
|---|---|---|
- SVG uniquement : fond transparent

# Preferences reference
*Edit → Preferences* opens **five** pages: General, New project, Export,
Print, Shortcuts. That's the whole list — there is no separate "Display" or
"Grid" category; those live inside General.
A second, related dialog — **Project Properties** — reuses one of these
pages (New project/New folio) to edit the *current project's* defaults
instead of the application's. See §2.
Source: `sources/configdialog.cpp` (the dialog shell),
`sources/ui/configpage/` (the five pages),
`QETApp::configureQET()` (where they're assembled).

## 1. General
The largest page, in several groups:
### Collection and title-block paths
Six folder pickers, letting you relocate every collection the app reads:
common elements, company elements, custom (your own) elements, company
title-block templates, custom title-block templates, and custom macros.
> **This is exactly the setting behind a real bug.** Relocating the common
> collection to a folder path with no trailing slash used to silently break
> IEC 81346 prefix lookups for every element (bugtracker #671) — fixed
> upstream. If prefixes ever stop working after you use this dialog, that
> history is why.
### Interface
- Use system colours
- Use trackpad gestures
- Allow zooming out beyond the folio edge
- HDPI scaling rounding policy (round up at .5, always ceil, always floor,
round up at .75, or no rounding) — matters on fractional-scale displays
- Language
### Startup state
- Show the grid by default (takes effect on the *next* launch, not
immediately)
- Show guides by default (same — next launch)
### Element management
- Highlight elements embedded in the project (vs. referenced from a
collection)
- A cap on how many primitives the element editor's parts list will render
before giving up — raising it can slow the editor down or crash it on a
very complex element
### Element texts, independent texts, other texts
Default font size and behaviour for each of these three separately — an
element's own dynamic text fields, free-standing text on a folio, and
everything else, respectively.
### Grid and keyboard movement
- Grid spacing (130)
- Keyboard-nudge step (130) — how far arrow keys move a selection
- Keyboard-nudge step with **Alt** held (19) — the fine-movement modifier
---
## 2. New project / New folio
**The same page, two names**, depending on where you open it:
| Opened from | Title | Edits |
|---|---|---|
| *Edit → Preferences* | **New project** | the defaults every future new project starts with |
| A project's own *Properties* dialog | **New folio** | that one project's defaults |
Five tabs, and this is the page behind everything documented in
**[Project XML](project_XML)**'s `newdiagrams` block:
| Tab | Sets |
|---|---|
| **Folio** | border (rows/columns/size) and title block template |
| **Conductor** | the default conductor properties every new wire starts with |
| **Folio reports** | the label formula for `next_report`/`previous_report` elements — see **[Linking wires across pages](folio_links)** §4 |
| **Cross-references** | master/slave label formulas — see **[Linking elements](element_linking)** |
| **Guides** | default alignment guides |
Changing this from *Preferences* (no project open) changes what **new**
projects get; it does not retroactively change any project already open.
Changing it from a project's *Properties* dialog changes only that project.
---
## 3. Export and Print
**These two pages share the same underlying widget** — Print is the export
widget with printing mode turned on, not a separate implementation. Both
expose:
- Output format: PNG, JPG, BMP, SVG or DXF (Print naturally constrains this
further)
- Export the whole folio (border + title block + content) or elements only
- Draw grid / draw border / draw title block
- Draw terminals / draw terminal names — off by default, since the
interactive editor's terminal markers aren't meant to appear in output
- Keep conductor colours
- SVG-only: transparent background
These are the same settings the **File → Export** dialog itself exposes —
this page just sets what a *new* export starts with, the same relationship
New project/New folio has to a brand-new project.
For the DXF format's own fidelity limits (what does and doesn't survive
export), see **[DXF import & export](dxf)**.
---
## 4. Shortcuts
A searchable, filterable table of every registered action and its key
combination, with a **Reset all** button and a per-shortcut reset. The quick
filter narrows to: all, assigned only, unassigned only, or **conflicts
only** — the fast way to find two actions fighting over the same key after
you've customised things.
A conflict is shown, not silently allowed — QET tells you which other
action already uses a key you're about to reassign.
---
## 5. What's notably *not* here
- **No per-diagram auto-save interval.** QET writes a periodic
crash-recovery backup in the background, but its timing isn't a setting
— see the User Manual's note on this.
- **No project-wide "page size" setting** separate from the Folio tab's
border configuration above — border rows/columns/size *is* the page
layout.
- **No dark-mode toggle distinct from "use system colours."** Theme follows
the OS unless you opt out of that.

- Organize custom elements
- Create private libraries

QET distinguishes three collections: the **common** one it ships with, a
**custom** one that's yours, and a **company** one for an organisation's
shared elements. There is no in-app browser for a public online element
repository — sharing an element with someone else means giving them the
`.elmt` file (or the whole custom/company collection folder) directly.
### Multi-User Workflows
- Save .qet files to shared storage (network drive)
- Use version control (Git) for diagrams
- Collaborate with team members
- Merge changes when working in parallel
QET has no built-in multi-user or shared-editing feature — a `.qet` file is
edited by one instance at a time, the same way any other document is (see
**[The project database](project_database)** for why: even the in-memory
query cache is per-process, not shared). Two practical options if several
people need to work on the same project:
- **Split by folio.** Since a project is folios inside one file, agreeing
who owns which folio avoids collisions entirely.
- **Version control (Git or similar) on the `.qet` file.** This works for
taking turns, but a genuine **merge conflict is a conflict in raw XML**,
not a structured diagram merge — resolving one means editing the XML by
hand or picking one side wholesale. Plan for "one person at a time," not
simultaneous editing.
